This week the National Centre of Indigenous Excellence (NCIE) farewell Indigenous Digital Excellence (IDX) Manager Delilah MacGillivray as she begins a new chapter in her career.

At NCIE we are lucky to work with people from all walks of life, who embody Indigenous Excellence, and who are continually working towards improving the everyday lived experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across Australia.

Delilah MacGillivray is one of them.

A proud Kalkadoon and South Sea Islander woman from Rockhampton, situated on Darumbal Country, Central Queensland, Delilah joined the NCIE family in 2017 after taking the role of IDX Manager.

IDX is a partnership between NCIE and Telstra Foundation that connects the ideas, perspectives and talent of Australia’s First Peoples to explore new technology.

We first met Delilah in 2016 when she participated in the initiative’s flagship program Flint at Helem Yumba Healing Centre in Rockhampton, QLD.

Experiencing this program first-hand, Delilah caught the digital bug and became IDX’s biggest advocate, and later applied for the role to lead digital excellence at NCIE.

A committed and experienced change agent, Delilah and her team work with more than 24 regional and remote communities to unlock the opportunities the digital world can provide to young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

As IDX Manager she has formed strong relationships with the program’s community of Flint facilitators located across Australia, empowering them to drive IDX at a community level. She looks forward to the IDX team continuing to lead the innovative program in the years to come.

Always up for a challenge, and willing to give anything a go, Delilah’s drive has seen her contribute to a number of NCIE led initiatives over the past 3 years.

During her time at the NCIE she has also worked as the GM of Programs and Partnerships managing Children Services, NCIE’s Talking About Tobacco Use (TATU) program, as well as the IDX Initiative.

As Delilah prepares to head back to the books to study, we decided to look back at Delilah’s journey as IDX Manager and the wonderful contribution she has made to Indigenous excellence.

Farewell and Thank you!
