We have recently introduced pilates into our Group Fitness Timetable and we are loving it, we hope you are too!  Our fantastic new instructor, Ian is our NCIE pilates expert!  Regardless of your fitness level, Ian can help you get back in shape by focusing on your core strength with pilates.

The benefits of pilates, for all fitness levels, are comprehensive. Pilates is all about toning and strengthening the major muscles groups in your body.  The strength you can gain from introducing pilates into your fitness regime is impressive.

Results are quick and easy to see and feel which can stop people from getting bored or frustrated with exercise. The strength you start to feel in your back will really help your posture and daily life; particularly if, like many of us, you work at a desk for most of the day.

It can really mix up your work out, especially if you are doing a lot of weights based training, swimming or sports like football or soccer. It will help strengthen your core, improve posture and flexibility, lengthen your muscles, and improve your overall fitness.  Having the kind of strength pilates provides can help prevent injuries, particularly back injuries.

Interestingly, pilates was originally designed to help injured athletes recover and rebuild strength, so it is perfect for those starting on a fitness journey, as a starting point to exercise in general and for those looking to prevent injury.

Pilates is also a great way to improve focus and energy for the rest of your week. It is a fine balance between mental and physical awareness and focus.

Keep your eyes peeled for some other great group fitness opportunities coming up, with Fighting Fit starting last week (there’s still spots left if you would like to join the team) and new ideas from our trainers coming in fast, it is set to be an fitter year for NCIE members.
